Worth the visit!

Europe’s new favorite

Hungary is at once romantic and lively, traditional and modern, quiet and vibrant.

The capital, Budapest, with its iconic skyline, the gently shimmering, winding lights of the Danube, the elegance of turn-of-the-century cafés, contemporary art galleries, and Michelin-starred restaurants together create an atmosphere that appeals both to culture lovers and lifestyle-conscious trendsetters. Walking through the streets, you can feel the city’s distinctive vibe that makes Budapest a living, breathing place: fashionable boutiques, the aroma of design cafés, the presence of theater performances, and the sight of rooftop bars promise that every moment spent here will be an experience.

The year 2025 brought record-breaking results for tourism: for the first time, Hungary welcomed more than twenty million guests at commercial accommodation establishments. This is remarkable not only in terms of the numbers, but also because it shows that the country has been able to understand and meet the needs of modern travelers. Liszt Ferenc International Airport closed the busiest year in its history, signaling that the capital is no longer merely a transit point but a prime destination in its own right. Visitors arriving from all over the world can simultaneously discover the capital’s diversity, its historical and contemporary character, the refined offerings of its cafés and restaurants, and its vibrant nightlife, while being deeply touched by the city’s unique atmosphere.

Rural Hungary is increasingly becoming an emerging pillar of this tourism appeal. The Balaton region is no longer defined solely by summer beach holidays; it has evolved into a refined, year-round destination. Wellness hotels, boutique guesthouses, wineries, and a wide range of slow-life experiences await travelers, while Hévíz and Hajdúszoboszló offer the world of thermal spas, and smaller villages provide proximity to nature and an authentic experience of local culture. A wine tasting among the rolling hills of the Balaton Uplands, a sunset walk around Tihany Abbey, or the early-morning atmosphere on the shores of Lake Fertő, each becomes a moment that turns into a lasting memory. The success of Hungarian tourism lies in the fact that it does not merely offer sights, but experiences in which the traveler becomes an active participant: tasting, living, and fully immersing themselves.

Gastronomy today is no longer merely a complementary experience, but one of the country’s defining attractions. Creative cuisine built on local ingredients, the distinctive offerings of the wine regions, artisanal products, farm-to-table restaurants, and trendy street food spots offer elegance and approachability at the same time. A great meal, a special wine, or a fine coffee is not just a sensory experience, but a connection to the spirit of the place, the local lifestyle, and the culture. In this way, the visitor becomes not just a consumer, but part of the story.

By 2025, tourism had become one of the most significant driving forces of the Hungarian economy, contributing a substantial share to GDP both directly and indirectly, creating jobs, and opening new opportunities for local communities. At the same time, the focus is not solely on volume: the goal is to design high-quality, sustainable, and personalized experiences, where guests are not outsiders but active participants in the moments they live through. In this way, Hungary is not only a popular destination, but a place where lifestyle and travel go hand in hand.

This combination – vibrant culture of the cities, the tranquility of the countryside, gastronomic adventures, and closeness to nature – makes the country truly lovable. Hungary is not only Europe’s new favorite, but an experience-driven destination where every moment is personal, every walk, every glass of wine, and every sunset is memorable. Here, travelers do not simply discover sights; they become part of the fabric of the country and take with them a feeling that lingers and calls them back later. The country’s success lies in the details: the blend of elegance and playfulness, the harmonious intertwining of past and present, the hospitality of the locals, and a creative way of life. Hungary is therefore not merely a visually striking destination, but an experience that resonates with the soul – one worth returning to again and again.
